One in five Indians over 45 has high blood pressure and doesn't know it. About four in ten over 45 with diabetes haven't been diagnosed. These conditions run in families and build slowly, and there is usually a long stretch when they are still easy to change.
Finding people isn't enough on its own. When India's hypertension programme found patients, blood pressure control more than doubled, but only for the half who came back. What works, in study after study, is staying with people.
So that's what we're building. A free way to find who in the family is at risk, the few tests that confirm it, and a doctor-led team that checks in every week. We're starting with a pilot in Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru.
We don't take commissions on tests, medicines or referrals, and our doctors are paid a flat fee. Tests are billed at the lab's price. We earn when families stay well, which is the only incentive we want.
